As a dad, your child's well-being, education, behaviour and mental strength all depend on your involvement in their upbringing.
Here are five qualities that make you a good dad for your kids.
1. Be protective
You are the head of the family and so your entire family depends on you for protection. Teach them the things they should be aware of and the consequences of making wrong choices. They all look up to you for protection.
2. Be their provider
No matter how hard life can be on your side, your kids depend on you for a decent life. Make sacrifices so that your kids get a good home, food and education.
3. Lead by example
A good father is not the "do as I say, not as I do" type. He won't smoke if he doesn't want his kids to smoke, nor does he drink if he doesn't want his kids to become drunkards. Lead by example by doing things you'd like them to copy from you.
4. Spend quality time with your kids
Let your kids know you by spending some quality time with them. When you are off from work, sit down and chat with them, tell them stories. Don't be a father who is always away from home.
5. Challenge your kids
You want them to be the best they can be or be better than you. The only way to do this is to give them challenges that can help them grow. Give them tips on how to overcome challenges and solve problems on their own.
