Nyamira County has been urged to promote cohesion and integration more so in the times that the country is heading to a general election.
Speaking on Friday during a courtesy call to Nyamira County Governor National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Commissioners said they are working together with the county governments on issues of cohesion and integration.
Addressing the press at the Governor’s office, NCIC Commissioner, Mr Morris Dzoro said they have been going round the counties to talk to the leaders in order to share and work together on matters of cohesion and integration.
“We are in the forefront to ensure that the county government and the public get in touch so that we can build a peaceful Kenya,” added Morris.
He said that the commission had talked to the Governor and agreed on the methods that could be applied to ensure residents lived in peace.
“Our mandate as a commission is to advise the government about the peace in the country through addressing and reducing the inter-ethnic conflicts,” he said.
The commissioner said that after talking to the leaders, the commission will conduct civic education at the grassroots so that to create awareness on issues of cohesion and integration among the communities.
