Deputy President William Ruto has confirmed that the Jubilee nominations for the next general elections will be free and fair.
While hosting a delegation from Bungoma County led by Governor Ken Lusaka in his home on Tuesday, Ruto said that the primaries will be all inclusive and accommodate Kenyans from all walks of life further saying that the party leadership does not have any preferred candidates.
"I can tell you for sure that there will be no favoritism in Jubilee nominations, anyone who is eyeing a seat on our party ticket is welcome,” he said.
On matters electoral law amendment, the leader wondered why the opposition is fighting the use of manual backup saying the manual voting process has always been used and that is likely to be the case even in the next polls.
"In any case voter registration, voting and counting of votes is done manually, I don’t see why our opposition counterparts should make a fuss out of this." said the Jubilee Party deputy party leader.
His comments were echoed by Governor Lusaka, who said that there is no way the nation can conduct a major accountable election without a plan B.
"We must have a backup, there is no way you can board a car without spares and still be very sure of arriving in time," said the County boss.
DP Ruto also maintained that the elections slated for 8th August this year will not be postponed.
