Uasin Gishu men and women volleyball teams on Friday successfully defended their title, the third time in a row by beating Kiambu and Nairobi in the finals respectively in the ongoing Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association (KICOSCA).
According to a post on the County Government of Uasin Gishu Facebook Page, both teams won by three sets to nil.
The champions, as they are popularly referred to, have set a record of not losing even a single set in the entire competition.
The ladies smashed Nairobi on a 25-12, 25-18 and 25-15 in the first, second and third sets respectively.
Men, on the other hand, destroyed Kiambu on 25-18, 25-11 and 25-16.
According to women coach Ken Bittok, the administration's support and the player's willingness to follow advice made a great boost in their win.
“The winning motive was in a way instigated by the coming in of Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago which made both the players and the cheering team gain a winning strength,” Bittok said.
Both Nairobi men and women have been winning the title before the onset of devolution and from 2013 to 2017 Uasin Gishu technically trained hard for the title.
