Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi is calling for the restructuring of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) before 2022.
In an interview with Citizen television on Monday, Mudavadi said that the commission has proven beyond doubt that it cannot leave up to the expectations of Kenyans.
He said he accepts the results from the Kibra by-election but does not agree with them.
He said that the exercise was marred by violence from different leaders but the commission has not responded on the same.
"The people of Kibra have made their decision, I may not agree with it, but we respect their position. We are not yet out of the woods with electorate malpractices, the IEBC still has a long way to go in ensuring free & fair elections," he said.
Mudavadi also said that the opposition is dead. He argued that NASA should have formed the opposition after it failed to win the seat. He noted that there is no party to keep the ruling team on its toes.
"NASA having not formed the government, should have automatically translated into opposition. We are seeing a lot of issues & challenges being carried through parliamentary processes without the opposition raising any serious concerns," he said.
