Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has backed the creation of the post of Prime Minister. Speaking during an interview with K24 on Sunday, Mutua said that the creation of the post will solve several issues including tribal fights for power. He noted that the other tribes will also have the opportunity to take part in Kenya's leadership."I want the holders of the PM and President’s offices elected, and the holders to come from different tribes. #Punchline @AnneKiguta," he said.
The governor said that there is a need for sharing power among different leaders.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party boss said that the president has been given too many powers, adding that the referendum should be given a chance for the same to be revisited."We need to divide and get the powers of the president shared. People are focused on tribes because of the one presidential post that exists. We need a president, a DP, a PM, and two deputy PMs," he maintained.
He also said that he is fully behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report amid the implementation debate. He added that the referendum will change many things about the leadership of this nation.
"If we have to adopt the issues that we are covering in the BBI, [then] we need a referendum to push that agenda forth," he stated.
