Residents of Milimaini area of Juja Sub County are calling on the government to move in swiftly and avert a rising crime wave.
Led by Dickson Muturi, an elder, the residents who thronged Juja police station on Wednesday asked police to arrest a gang that has been stealing household goods and money from homesteads at night.
Muturi said in a recent case, the gang mostly comprising of young men invaded a home and stole a television set, DVD, radio, laptop and all mobile phones from a family.
“The situation is so terrible and we are calling on the government to provide us with security,“ said Muturi.
He blamed police for being reluctant in curbing crime, adding that three homes have been raided in the last one week.
Contacted, Juja police station officer in charge Zachariah Ateya said police are investigating on the matter and will not relent in arresting criminals.
“We have received your complaints and am sounding a warning to these criminals, they either retract or the law catches up with them, “ warned Ateya.
He blamed area residents of not giving information to police noting that in the last burglary case, residents reported it after two days making it hard for police to track down the criminals.
