Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi claimed a section of Rift Mps are plotting to oppose the nomination at the floor of the House.

"They are now putting the spanners in the works to ensure that the country does not have a new CJ by the end of the week. You will see drama during the vetting process," Wandayi said.

The objection reportedly pegged on a case Maraga determined while serving in Nakuru High Court.

The case was an appeal of a judgement made on the murder of former Ainamoi MP David Too.

Maraga reduced the suspect’s sentence to 10 years after ruling it as manslaughter.

The suspect shared ethnicity with Maraga hence claims of bias.

Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has however denied such plans.

"Those are total lies. We are fully behind the nominees presented by the JSC and we have no political or legal reasons to oppose them," Murkomen said.
