Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru has called for quick elections within the ruling Jubilee Party which is already dealing with internal wrangles.
The President Uhuru Kenyatta-led bloc remains with interim leadership which came to power after the party's formation in the run-up to the 2017 general elections.
Speaking while in the company of her fellow leaders under the Inua Mama group in Nyandarua on Saturday, Waruguru said that there is need to clean up the party of harmful elements.
According to the vocal parliamentarian, there exists a group of disloyal officials who are serving the party but are in alliance with the opposition side at the same time.
"We cannot have some officials who are members of Jubilee during the day and opposition at night. That is why we are calling for the elections,” the Woman Rep said as quoted by the Standard.
This comes only days after Deputy President William Ruto and party Secretary General Raphael Tuju clashed over the election date, with Tuju being among the possible targets.
This is with regards to the fact that the debate only began after Tuju was accused of doubling up as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) strategist.
Months earlier, he was implicated in a leaked phone conversation where a voice though to be his was heard mocking Ruto's engagement in fundraisers.
In the clip, Tuju is allegedly speaking to former Limuru MP George Nyanja.
