The first term governor has now asked the court to direct for the unfreezing of his bank accounts so that he can provide for his family.

He has lamented that life has become unbearable since he was charged over the alleged misappropriation of Sh357 million belonging to the county government of Nairobi.

The governor, through lawyer Harrison Kinyanjui claims that the Assets Recovery Agency went ahead to freeze his bank account despite his cooperation with the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji.

“To continue festering these bank accounts of the applicant in the manner complained of itself is a violation of the constitution,” said Kinyanjui.

He now wants the court to order the accounts including those in KCB, Equity, National Bank and Diamond Trust Bank to be unfrozen with immediate effect so that he can support his family financially.

The claims come after he nominated Anne Kanuna Mwendwa as his deputy following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.

The nomination has, however, caused mixed reactions from different factions. DPP Haji has dismissed the nomination, terming it null and void after he was blocked from accessing his office until the case is heard and determined.
