Right, Reverend Dominic Kimengich was on Saturday installed as the fifth bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret.

The position fell vacant following the death of Bishop Cornelius Korir on October 30, 2017.

Bishop of Kitale Diocese Rt. Rev. Maurice Crowley has been the Apostolic Administrator of the Eldoret Diocese since the passing on of Bishop Cornelius Korir. 

Speaking after his installation at Mother of Apostles Seminary-Eldoret, Bishop Kimengich promised to serve all Christians without fear or favour and according to the word of God.

"I want to thank the pope for giving me this position to serve Christians in the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and I promise to do it diligently and transparently and I won't let Christians down," Bishop Kimengich said.

The ceremony was conducted by Cardinal John Njue.

“I will also ensure that peace prevails as my predecessor Bishop Cornelius Korir advocated for, as he was called the icon of peace,” added Bishop Kimengich.

Cardinal Njue congratulated Bishop Kimengich for the appointment and urged him to do whatever he can to ensure the Eldoret Diocese is run well and wished him all the best.

Deputy President William Ruto congratulated Bishop Kimengich and promised to work with him in his new position. 

He called on him to continue with Bishop Korir’s legacy of preaching and advocating for peace and ensure that communities stay together.
