The tenure of the Auditor General Edward Ouko ended on Monday. The position has since been declared vacant after Ouko’s ten year term ended.

Applicants have been asked to submit their letters to the Public Service Commission (PSC) following a gazette notice. 

The applicants are required to meet certain criteria before they can apply for the position as advertised including extensive knowledge in public finance as well as ten years of experience in the area of finance.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term in power, has named Stephen Masha in the position of Deputy Controller of Budget, Stephen Masha, the budget controller. 

Masha is expected to take over Agnes Odhiambo who also completed his tenure in office.

 Following the new development, Masha will be holding the post for the next 90 days in the acting capacity as the interviewing panel prepares to vet the nominees ahead of formal appointment into the position. 

The PSC also announced the vacancy in the same position in a separate gazette notice. The announcement was made by PSC Chairperson, Stephen Kirogo. The applicants have until September 9th to submit their letters of application. 

Any applicant who will not beat the deadline will not be considered.The notice indicates that the qualifications for the applications include,” extensive knowledge of public finance or at least ten years’ experience in auditing public finance management.”
