Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has downplayed other options of fighting corruption citing that carrying out reforms in various institutions but failing to work on the whole system was not the way to go.
Speaking on Citizen TV on Tuesday, Abdullahi said the country's political system was the main problem to graft in the country.
According to Abdullahi, the whole system in the country needs an overhaul right from the presidency to the lower positions in various institutions in the country.
"We should not be talking about ending corruption before we deal with the whole corrupt system of governance in the country. The cases of graft have roots from high-end offices and to deal with that, we need to change the whole system and also recruit competent leaders to the independent bodies in the country," said Abdullahi.
Variuos graft scandals have rocked the country with the recent one being the alleged loss of Sh5.3 billion at Afya House.
According to Abdullahi, no prominent leader has been jailed for graft and as such, the war against the vice will be harder because there is a belief that the system is already dead.
