The Orange Democratic Movement governors have been urged to emulate their Mombasa counterpart Governor Ali Hassan Joho by investing their time to campaign for party leader Raila Odinga.
Joho who also doubles as the ODM deputy party leader has been on the forefront campaigning for Raila and on Saturday, he said he was ready to lose the gubernatorial seat for the sake of campaigning for his boss.
And on Monday, Nyamira County Assembly Chief Whip Peter Maroro said the party will have an easy time in campaigning if all ODM county bosses become 'active’ and campaign for their party leader.
“I want to specifically thank Joho for the resilience he has shown as the ODM leader and governor. He is always out to make the party shine and we saw that during the Malindi by-election and a host of other activities,” he said.
“All ODM governors should emulate his loyalty to the party and fight for our presidential candidate. They are at the grassroots and their presence will give the party leader easy time in campaigning. Time has come for them to join us in fighting this war,” he added.
Maroro insisted that Raila’s ambitions would be real if all party members wage a grand campaign at the grassroots that will be coordinated by governors in his strongholds.
“The governors who are our bosses at grassroots should lead us. We must wage a well-coordinated campaign. Otherwise, I wish they get challenged at doing something,” he said.
