The 'fake' doctor arrested at the Nakuru Level-5 Hospital was arraigned in a Nakuru court on Tuesday June 14, to answer to the said charges.
According to the prosecution, the 33 year old George Mburu Mugereki alias Dr Jenarius Njuguna was arrested on Monday at the Nakuru Level-5 Hospital masquerading as a doctor.
The man however, denied the charge before Chief Magistrate David Kemei and was released on a cash bail of Sh30 000 or a bond of Sh100 000 and a surety of the same amount.
The case will be heard on July 12, 2016.
According to media reports, Mr Mburu was arrested when the clinical officer in charge of the hospital Joseph Kiprotich Keriyo was going about his duties.
He said that the man was found with only his national ID card but was fully dressed as a doctor with a stethoscope hanging round his neck.
It was said that he has been operating in the outpatient department for the last one week and according to Dr Keriyo, he has been operating under the name of Jenarius Njuguna.
In his part, the accused told journalists that he had been working on voluntary basis and that he previously served in Kitale District Hospital in the same capacity and as a result, he thought it wise to render the same services at the Nakuru facility.
The hospital authorities are trying to establish the number of patients that were handled by Mburu.
This now makes it three the number of such cases to arise at the hospital in the recent past.
