Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya has once again thrown his weight behind the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) push and the possible implementation referendum.
Speaking in Kitui County on Sunday, the county boss declared his full support for the push to amend the constitution, saying that the BBI initiative has united the country.
He advised Kenyans to fully rally behind the push for constitutional changes, saying that the BBI initiative will address all the challenges being faced by Kenyans currently.
"I am in the BBI team, it has brought us together and I urge you the people of Kitui to support it because the BBI has everything we require," he said.
Oparanya added that the case is the same in his own county and the entire Western Kenya region, which he said will wholly vote in favour of the changes should it get to a referendum.
"If we go for a referendum we must approach it together. In Kakamega and the Western Kenya region we support the BBI," added the Council of Governors Chairman.
He made the remarks only a day after hosting the second BBI consultative forum which was held at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on Saturday.
The Bukhungu forum was presided over by ODM leader Raila Odinga, who cofounded the BBI with President Uhuru Kenyatta in March 2018.
