A section of Kiambu town residents have lauded Cord leader Raila Odinga for hosting Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and other leaders who were detained for hate speech remarks for lunch saying it was a show of unity.

The locals lauded Odinga’s gesture saying that it was timely and will help bringing Kenyans together.

“Raila Odinga did the right thing to host Kuria for lunch and it shows that the Cord leader has not grudge against the MP after the assassination claims,” said Lawrence Nyaga, a resident in Kiambu.

Mr Nyaga further described Odinga’s gesture to host all the MPs implicated in hate speech saying it will lay the ground for a united Kenya.

“We don’t have to fight because of our tribal differences and I laud Odinga for showing that Kenya is one despite its diverse tribes,” he added.

Mary Njuguna, a social worker in Kiambu urged leaders in government and opposition to put aside their differences and work together.

She indicated that the interests of Kenyans were bigger than that of politicians.
