Majority of Kenyans would elect President Uhuru Kenyatta if presidential election were held today, indicates a poll survey by university dons.

 According to a recent poll conducted by two University of Nairobi dons, Uhuru would win with a 55.1 per cent. 

The poll, sponsored by Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU)Secretary General Francis Atwoli, shows Uhuru's closest rival, Cord leader Raila Odinga, would get 35.1 per cent of votes cast. 

The survey dubbed ‘An Analytical Study of Kenya’s Political Leadership Status and Outlook’, shows that Uhuru would win the elections in the first round. 

The percentage meets the 50 per cent-plus one threshold required to avoid a rerun. Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who was Raila's running mate in 2013 polls who tie on 2.3 percent. 

The study was done in 17 towns around the country with a total sample of 530 respondents between July 19 and October 5, 2016.
