Deputy President William Ruto will take long to resuscitate his political fortunes following the truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.
For the last 18 months, a spirited Ruto has been walking on a tight rope, finding himself in unfamiliar political environment following through unlikely truce.
Even now, the DP is yet to chose whether to support the Handshake or not, something that has reportedly caused confusion within his camp.
And former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire, who serves as Orange Democratic Movement party treasurer, on Monday said the DP's journey was end.
Mr Bosire said it would be difficult for the DP to regain his authority, arguing that his political advisors may have misled him in 2013 when he joined Jubilee.
"As far as our politics is concerned, the DP had his career buried by Handshake. He never expected it and unfortunately, it has elbowed him out.
"The misfortunes started in 2012 and we are now in the final phase. It will take long for him to regain ground if at all he can," said Mr Bosire.
But North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, dismissed Bosire's assertion, arguing that the DP is on the right track.
"The most important thing is that the DP is with people. It doesn't matter what they want to do, the ultimate decision rests with the people," he said, Monday.
