Mr Enock Omambia, the father of Moi University graduate who was beheaded by al Shabaab has finally spoken out.
Mr Omambia who is slowly recovering from the rude shock following the death of his second born son in the hands of the militia group, said he blames him for his death.
The deceased, Jared Mokaya Omambia, who was described by the father as calm and quiet, is said to have converted to Islam three years ago, soon after completing his undergraduate studies at the varsity.
The 30-year-old then changed his name to Abdulaziz.
Mr Omambia said his son's decision was opposed by family members but they let him change religion since the constitution allows for freedom of worship.
Omambia said his son was once in 2014 arrested in Isebania after calling his friend 'kafir'.
He was released on Sh10,000 bond and later disappeared from home.
"Since 2014, he has never called me. We wondered where he had vanished to but on May 22, this year, he called me asking how we were fairing on. We did not speak much. He immediately hanged on and his phone since then has been off. I realised it was a foreign number and decided to check it with the Anti-Terror Police in Eldoret who confirmed that the number was registered in Somalia. He never told us how he went to Somalia," said Omambia.
This made his know that his boy could have joined the al Shabaab and that he would die any day.
However, Abdulaziz and his friend Abdul Majid Faraj, 22, were beheaded by the militant group on suspicion of spying for Kenyan security agencies.
The father now blames his son for keeping away from home and never disclosing his whereabouts.
Abdulaziz's younger brother, James Omambia, has however called on the government to help in bringing home his brother's body for burial.
