Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has said that consultations to have Maendeleo Chap Chap registered as a political party are underway.
Speaking during an interview on Radio Maisha on Wednesday morning, Mutua said that he is consulting members to see whether the Maendeleo Chap Chap will be registered as a party ahead of the 2017 elections.
Governor Mutua stated that the Movement’s agenda is to push for development.
“Deliberations and consultations are ongoing on whether Maendeleo Chap Chap should be registered as a party,” he said during the interview.
The Machakos governor said that movement is currently selling out its agenda to Kenyans across the country.
“We are on a meet the people tour as we seek to popularize Maendeleo Chap Chap,” he said.
Governor Mutua stated that the movement agitates for development which he said is missing in the country.
Sources within the party say that Mutua might use the movement to seek re-election as Machakos governor in 2017 general elections.
A section of Ukambani leaders has however criticized Mutua’s movement claiming that it is being used to divide the Kamba votes ahead of the 2017 general elections.
