The Nyamira County Assembly has adjourned for one week to allow MCAs time to scrutinise the 2016-17 financial budget.
Tabling the adjournment motion in the House on Tuesday evening, chief whip James Maroro urged his colleagues to pass the motion to give MCAs ample time to scrutinise certain issues in the budget before it is tabled in the House Tuesday next week.
"As you know we have a budget making process and there are certain issues that need to be ironed out before June 30, and that is why I am moving this motion so that the House will have time to attend to such issues," said the Mang'a ward MCA.
On his part, Kemera ward MCA James Mating'a said there was need for the assembly to adjourn this week's sittings so that the members can find time to discuss pertinent issues raised by different departments in the county before the budget is presented to the assembly next week Tuesday.
"We have a number of issues to be settled with various government departments which we feel were allocated less money and so we need to go and cross-examine these areas so that we are be able to make informed decision on the same," added Mating'a.
