After Hivisasa highlighted a story on a renowned businessman from Rioma market, Marani sub-county in Kisii County who defiled and impregnated a standard seven Pupil from a local school, the suspect was arrested and charged in court a week ago.
The story led to a heated debate in a local WhatsApp group which piled more pressure on authorities to act with immediate effect.
According to Marani Assistant County Commissioner (ACC) Fred Sungu, the suspect, Peter Obara, a renowned businessman has allegedly been having an affair with the pupil who studies in a local school.
A senior police officer who sought anonymity noted that the Hivisasa story forced the authorities to arrest Obara.
Hell broke loose when Obara helped the minor procure an abortion in a local clinic.
Obara the suspect, alongside the doctor who carried out the abortion were arrested and charged.
Both suspects were released on a Sh200,000 bond in a case that will be heard on 5th November 2019.
