Punguza Mizigo Bill is a waste of time, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga has said.
Wanga, who spoke at New Life church in Kendu Bay town when she donated Women Ministry of the Seventh Day Adventist Church’s Kenya Lake, asked county assemblies to reject the proposals fronted by ThirdWay Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot.
The lawmaker reminded MCAs not to support the bill because it is destined to fail at the end of the day.
She said that the bill is rooting for the scrapping of constituencies, which will affect the delivery of services.
“For example here in Homa Bay, we will only have two constituencies which will not serve the public well in terms of allocation of resources,” said Wanga, as quoted by Standard.
She said that the county assemblies will have dealt the country a major blow if they pass the proposals seeking to change the referendum.
“Let all county assemblies reject the bill if they mean well for Kenya."
She also asked the county assemblies to support the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
She noted that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is the best option for Kenyans. The lawmaker asked residents to back the initiative for the sake of the economic growth of this nation.
