Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho on Tuesday met Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi in what could be a pointer the National Super Alliance launch is near.

Joho who is ODM Deputy Party leader has been instrumental in championing for the formation of the political outfit that seeks to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017.

The two leaders met three days after Mr Mudavadi was crowned Luhya spokesperson on Saturday.

The ANC leader will be expected to steer the unity of the Luhya community ahead of the 2017 general elections.

"I had a fruitful meeting with my brother and friend Musalia Mudavadi at the Serena Hotel, in Mombasa," Joho posted on his official Facebook account after the meeting.

"We had the opportunity to discuss several national issues, key amongst them the poor state of the nation under the Jubilee government and the unity of our coalition going into the next general election."

Joho has been instrumental in campaigning for the Cord coalition and ODM leader Raila Odinga ahead of the 2017 polls.

He says Cord has a better chance os defeating Jubilee during the polls if Mr Odinga is the coalition's flag bearer.

Late last year he campaigned for Mr Odinga in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu.

The fire spitting is expected to lead the Cord popularization campaign in Uasin Gishu, Deputy President William Ruto's home turf.

"I greatly appreciate his (Mudavadi's) efforts to reach out to all sections of the country and further encouraged him to ensure that no section of the Mulembe nation is left behind," he added.

"It is important that we pursue this journey for a better Kenya with everyone on board."
