Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has said that President Uhuru Kenyatta must stick with Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Leader Raila Odinga to end because there is the need to unite Kenyans.
In a series of tweets, Kabando said that the perceived rebellion in the Mt Kenya region is not good news as far as peace and unity are concerned. He noted that he supports President Uhuru because of the unity we enjoy as a nation following the handshake with Raila.
He also said that it is only Raila who can assist Uhuru deal with Deputy President William Ruto before 2022. He noted that Ruto's presidential ambition has led to the rise in political temperatures in the nation for no good course.
"I don’t support Uhuru because he’s the best or hasn’t failed. Nay. I support my President because I know if he’s freed from merchants of impunity, and Ruto, he means well. That’s why he must stick with Raila. But we must enrol other nationalists. Urgently. Or the worst comes," he tweeted.
President Kenyatta's bromance with Raila continues to cause jitters in Ruto's camp. Uhuru has, however, made it clear that he has no deal with Odinga in regard to the Presidency.
“In my handshake deal with Raila, I did not tell him that I will support him should he express interest in the presidency in 2022. The resolution of our meeting was that we prioritise peace in Kenya,” he said during a meeting with leaders from Central Kenya at the Sagana State Lodge.
At the same time the former legislator has urged Raila Odinga to play the taming role to the DP William Ruto. Kabando claimed that the second in command and his allies have been frustrating the President in the quest to fulfil the promises he made to the Kenyans when he was seeking election into office.
He reminded the President not to act like a lame-duck when he has the powers to act with immediate effect.
"It time Uhuru boldly called the bluff on Ruto. Time is fast running out on him. It’s not only a country that’s impatient. His so-called backyard’s restlessness is escalating dangerously. His MEN are lying to him. Things are the elephant. But he can reverse lame-duck status by acting," he tweeted.
