A secondary school teacher and his form three student are being held by police in Narok County, at Emmurua Dikirr Police Station
The two are said to have been nabbed in a lodging in Transmara East on Saturday at 2 pm.
According to area Assistant Chief Richard Bett, the teacher, Nathan Kosgei, is attached to Simotwet Secondary School.
He was busted by police officers after locals who spotted the minor at the lodging tipped the Assistant Chief.
“Members of the public called me after the girl was seen at a lodging locked in the room with the teacher,” said Bett as quoted by Citizen Digital.
The 17-year-old student was taken Transmara West sub-county hospital for medical checks.
A medical report might be used as evidence against the teacher if the case is escalated to his employer.
Regulations by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), indicate that they may take disciplinary action against a teacher who commits any of the following offences: sexual intercourse, sodomy, lesbianism and sexual harassment.
After a fair hearing, TSC gives the affected teacher time to defend himself or herself then a conclusion is made.
The commission can warn, suspend him/her from duty, dismiss from service, retire in public interest or dismiss and remove from the register of teachers involved in sexual acts with students.
