Security agents in Thika have advised women against walking alone at night especially in dark places to avoid being attacked and raped.
This comes after the arrest of a serial rapist who is accused of raping, assaulting and stealing from more than five women in Thika.
Thika Sub-County Administration Police Commander Samuel Ombonya addressing the press today said that they were able to catch up with the culprit identified Cosmus Mutuku Kyengo 35, from Machakos County.
The culprit is said to have gone into hiding after attacking the five women who he inserted a knife and stick into their private parts before repeatedly raping them.
Ombonya said that they have been looking for the suspect and thanks to a tip off from the members of the public, they were able to track him down and found him at the Gachororo bushes in Juja where he is believed to have been camping after committing the heinous acts.
“Our officers are conducting investigations into the incidents and they are preparing a water tight case so that the culprit will be jailed and kept away from the members of the public as he poses great danger to society,” said Ombonya.
One of the victims, a 26 year old mother of two said that the incident happened on a Tuesday while she was heading home at around 8:00pm from Nyacaba where she had been working as a casual laborer and carried her into the bushes.
She said that she is still in shock as she recalled how the rapist tied her on all her fours and raped her repeatedly.
“He inserted a stick into my private parts and then stabbed me with a sharp knife while he had blind folded me,” she said while sobbing.
The five women have been taken to hospital for further treatment.
