Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has once again waded into the 2022 succession politics, declaring he will not back Deputy President (DP) William Ruto to take over power.
Ruto, the Jubilee Party heir-apparent, has been considered by many political analysts as a front-runner in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is serving his second and final term.
Responding to a tweep who asked him whether he will rally behind the DP, Miguna termed Ruto as a 'despot' and vowed never to support his presidential bid.
The firebrand lawyer who also refers to President Kenyatta as a despot, has been calling for his (Kenyatta) removal from power through a 'revolution'.
"I won't and don't. I cannot support any despot, despotic collaborator or despotic supporter. I support the revolution to transform Kenya into a merit-based and just society for all. We cannot remove one despot or set of despots for another one. Focus!" he tweeted on Saturday.
Miguna made the remarks a few days after he rubbished claims that his sustained scathing attacks on Kenyatta were in support for the DP.
This is in the wake of reports that Ruto has fallen out of favour with the President, who is said was now backing former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
"I've seen baseless claims from Raila Odinga zombies that my fight against Uhuru Kenyatta's despotism is somehow support for Ruto. Ruto is Uhuru Kenyatta's deputy in Jubilee Party and in the illegitimate regime that stole elections and brutalized Kenyans like me," Miguna tweeted a week ago.
