Former Gatanga MP David Murathe claimed that the misinterpretation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between president Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto is causing divisions in Jubilee.
Speaking on K24 on Sunday, Murathe said that some Jubilee members believed the presidency was to be shared between the president and his deputy in an MOU that saw DP Ruto dissolve his URP to join Uhuru's TNA to form Jubilee party.
He claims this is one of the main reasons Uhuru has not been able to honour some of his campaign promises as he has been facing disruption from some leaders.
"The President has been seriously distracted...some people in the first term thought it was a co-presidency," he said.
The former Jubilee deputy party chairman also said there are no plans for President Uhuru Kenyatta to quit politics after completion of his second term.
COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has been among a clique of politicians who claim the prime minister slot proposed by the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) is a perfect fit for Uhuru come 2022.
The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate has seen divisions in the ruling party.
A faction of Jubilee party leaders allied to the deputy president claim that the report is aimed at benefiting Raila Odinga who co-engineered the BBI committee with the president.
