But his first such stunt happened in 2014, only a year I to his first term, when he snubbed his presidential limousine to board a matatu from the Nairobi Statehouse to the Kenyatta International Convention Center (KICC).

The president even paid the Sh30 bus fair, leaving matatu touts and drivers shocked upon seeing the head of state stuffed in between security officers inside the bus.

Due to the absence of his presidential limousine, yet his safety had to be assured anyway as per the protocol, the presidential escort vehicles sandwiched the bus, escorting the president to launch the PSV cashless 1963 card.

Those who accompanied Uhuru in his uncommon ride included then Safaricom CEO the late Bob Collymore and his Private Secretary Jomo Gechaga, who also paid their fares to Absalom Omuatia, the tout.

Others included Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, who were also headed for the event whose main native was introducing a cashless travel payment system.

The president is the most protected person in Kenya.
