Speaking Sunday at a funds drive at Ikonge, Ombui claimed the projects he had initiated during his tenure have not been ignored by the incumbent MP Charles Geni, thus urged residents to elect him in 2017 so that he can complete them.

"I want to ask my people of North Mugirango that they need to vote for me in next year's elections so that I can complete the projects for the benefit of residents," said Ombui.

He also said there is the need for North Mugirango residents to choose leaders with actions but not those who give false promises which they cannot fulfill.
