According to Miguna, he dropped the name back on October 28, 1997.

In a tweet on Friday evening, the Canadian barrister said: "My name is Miguna Miguna. For those in doubt, here is the CHANGE OF NAME CERTIFICATE. The prefix "Joshua" was excised in 1997. Integrity is the software that drives vision, ideology and values. Patriotic revolutionaries don't lie," wrote Miguna.

However, the former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant did expound on the reason why he dropped his Christian name and retain his two similar names.

Miguna is known for his controversy and abrasive nature. He was deported twice in 2018.

He was first deported on February 6 over his role in the mock swearing-in of Raila Odinga as the 'People's President' on January 30, 2018 at Uhuru Park.

He was later deported in March after a 72-hour stand-off with immigration officials at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
