The 12 appeared before Kerugoya High Court Judge Lucy Gitari, who ordered that they remain in office until a petition they filed challenging their ouster is heard and determined.

The group had been ousted due to pressure from female members who were demanding the positions on ground of gender imbalance in the house leadership positions.

They include Frederick Bundi (Health), Peter Njomo (Finance), Baptisa Kanga (Agriculture), Kinywa Mwangi (Implementation) and Wilson Muchina (Legislation).

Through their lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, they argued that there was no public participation before their ouster and their replacement with the female members of the house.

They further argued that their ouster came during the absence of a Speaker, with regards to the initial resignation of former Speaker David Githanda.

Mr Kanga blamed their woes on Majority Leader Kamau Murango whom he claimed has incapacitated the house, making it hard to operate.

"The majority leader is making it hard for the Assembly to conduct its business and he must go," he is quoted by the Nation.

He further claiming that they were kicked out for exposing scandals in the house.

"We are exposing scandals, that is why we are being fought. We shall not be cowed by anybody," he said.
