Two sisters are set to be charged with the murder of their father in Kathoge village, Kirinyaga County.
The two sisters, Esther Kagendo Mwangi, 28, and Emily Wanjira Mwangi, 24, while appearing before Embu Magistrate Florence Muchemi pleaded guilty to the charges.
Their mother, Tabither Weruma, who is also accused maintained her plea of not guilty.
The three are accused of murdering their father over Sh5,000 funeral money meant to help in his son's funeral expenses.
The two while pleading guilty said they were angered by their father who took the cash raised by well-wishers to help in funeral expenses.
"We were deeply angered because we were still mourning our brother yet our father drunk away the money,” stated one of them as quoted by Citizen Digital.
Zachary Mutindi, their late father died of injuries in the head caused by a blunt object.
He had to be buried with his son who had died earlier.
The three were arrested after investigations and they denied the charges prompting the court to order them to be remanded at Embu GK prison where they underwent mental assessment.
The two changed their earlier stand as they pleaded guilty on Friday and noted that they regretted the act.
They will be sentenced on December 16, 2019, the same day their mother will take plea afresh.
