According to Athletics Kenya (AK) Vice President Paul Mutwii, the two were not in the first squad that left the country on Monday eveas they did not meet the three conditions set by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU).

The AIU requires an athlete to have undergone at least three tests before championships, which Simiyu and Kibet did not fulfil.

However, Mr Mutwiri confirmed that they had contacted the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) to have the two travel to Doha, Qatar.

Unfortunately, the IAAF had not replied by yesterday when the first batch of players left the country.

“The two athletes are not travelling because we did not receive any feedback from IAAF in our request to have them compete, without complying with the anti-doping regulations. Since they haven’t responded we cannot risk taking them with us and they won’t compete,” said Mutwii as quoted by Citizen Digital.

Mr Mutwiri further noted that their positions were taken by the third and fourth runners. Nicholas Kimeli and Jacob Krop replaced them, as they await to know their fate by today (Tuesday).

Kenya is one of the country's that has been mostly affected by the doping allegations in the world.

The second batch of players will leave the country today evening.
