Nakuru town elevation to city status has received a strong back up from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The President has revealed that his administration is steadfast in ensuring that Lanet Airport becomes fully operational to ease movement of investors in and out of Nakuru City to be.
Kenyatta was speaking over the weekend during the burial of business giant Karanja Kabage where he said that the airport will help in growing business in Nakuru County saying that such is the steps that leaders should support to positively impact the lives of ordinary Kenyans.
“As Governor has stated we have plans for the airport at Lanet so that Kenyans and more so Nakuru residents can enjoy the benefits of it instead of having to go to Eldoret or Nairobi,” said President Kenyatta.
His sentiments come in less than a week after a caucus of Nakuru County MPs led by Senator Susan Kihika, Bahati Mp Kimani Ngunjiri and Nakuru East Mp David Gikaria said that procedures made by Governor Lee Kinyanjui do not convince them to support the elevation.
On his side, Governor Lee has said that his administration has already laid down the required procedures and they are only waiting for the president to give them a charter.
Kinyanjui has emphasized the need for a city and an airport saying the two will help grow business and open up more opportunities to the residents of Nakuru County.
