Businessman Don Bosco Gichana has asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga to cancel the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) meeting in Gusiiland.
The meeting is scheduled for Friday at Kisii Golf Club, in Kisii county.
But in a Facebook post on Thursday, Don Bosco said that there were urgent issues that need to be sorted apart from the BBI issue.
He noted that some leaders want to use the BBI report for self-protection, which should not be the case.
According to him, both Kisii and Nyamira counties need to be fixed in terms of politics before Uhuru and Raila tours the region.
“Raila and Uhuru should be advised about tomorrow's BBI consultative meeting to be postponed or be taken somewhere else. We have our very serious housekeeping matters in our two counties. They should rather send DCI himself and choppers. We are not opposed to BBI as unveiled in Bomas but leaders using BBI for protection from prosecution. Arise residents let's pour on the streets to demand what's rightfully ours Viva Gusii Viva Amandla!’ he posted.
Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi had also opposed the meeting saying it is a waste of resources.
"If you ask me about it, your guess is clear as mine. It is all a waste of funds. People are missing priorities, “Maangi said, according to the Star.
