Attorney-General Kihara Kariuki will have his day in court over the tribulations of lawyer Miguna Miguna, who remains stranded in Europe.
Since Monday, Miguna Miguna has been unable to travel to Kenya despite numerical court orders issued in his favour.
The Canada-based barrister has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of orchestrating his tribulations, vowing to remain unbowed.
Justice John Mativo on Friday directed the AG to appear in court to explain why the government is violating orders.
Government spokesperson Col (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna recently said Miguna was barred by various aircraft over his alleged unruly behaviour.
“His unruly behaviour was seen to have the potential of threatening category A1 status of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport which the country did a lot of work to achieve,” Oguna's statement reads.
“This category certifies that we have put security and safety measures in all our airports. This is an accomplishment that we are committed to jealously protect."
Miguna Miguna was forcefully evicted from the country by authorities in 2018 on grounds that he was not a Kenyan citizen.
Thereafter, his efforts to return were thwarted when authorities blocked him at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in March 2018.
Justice Kihara is the government legal advisor and will now be tasked to explain the series violation of court orders.
