Tanzanian president John Pombe Magufuli on Saturday gifted President Uhuru Kenyatta with four peacocks.
According to Magufuli, Uhuru touched him when he prayed for his mother in the hospital after visiting her.
He said that he has never gifted any president with peacocks since they are very important to Tanzanian history.
"Kwa kweli nimeguswa, sijawahi gawa tausi kwa nchi yoyote kwa sababu hawa tausi wana historian yetu, lakini kwa heshima kubwa na mahusiano makubwa kati ya nchi yetu na Kenya nimekubali, nitatoa tausi wanne watapelekwa Kenya kwa mheshimiwa Kenyatta. (Truly I have never given my peacocks to any country because they are special to our history but because of the great relationship between our country and Kenya, I will give four peacocks to be taken to President Kenyatta's home)," said Magufuli in a video shared on Facebook.
The Tanzania President, however, said after giving forth, Uhuru will be required to give back to Tanzania the four peacocks.
He also noted that he is not intending to gift another president with the peacocks.
"Nmeskia raha kweli na mheshimiwa Kenyatta ni mtu ambaye ni special amekuja hapa ametembelea kaburi la baba yangu na ndugu zangu. Ameenda mpaka kwa mama yangu na nmeona mama aliokuwa amemshika mkono kuna dalili kubwa Sana amempenda. (I felt happy and president Kenyatta is very special he came visited my father's grave and also my mother at the hospital. When she was holding his hand there were signs she liked him)" he said.
