Deputy President William Ruto is expected to preside over the annual poultry auction in Uasin Gishu County on Saturday.
The event is scheduled to take place at Kambi Kuku, Turbo Constituency, a memorable place where the DP used to sell chicken to earn a living in his youthful days.
According to Gertrude Chemutai the brainchild of the poultry auction and the youth leader, the auction will start at 10:00 am and thousands of chicken are expected to be sold at the event.
“The event will be held on Saturday 21st December at Kambi Kuku grounds near Kipkeino school which is along the busy Eldoret-Uganda highway,’ she said.
Gertrude who spoke to the press in Eldoret town on Thursday urged local to come in large numbers and purchase chicken which will be given at an affordable rate.
“The event will be attended by both local and national leaders, therefore, all residents both small and large-scale poultry farmers are invited to attend,” added the brainchild of the poultry auction.
She said in 2019 the Deputy President William Ruto officially launched the chicken auction at the Kambi Kuku grounds which raised Sh 6 million.
It brought together small-scale poultry farmers from Jua Kali, Turbo and its environs with a total of 5,000 chickens sold at Sh 1,200 each.
