The mother of Joyce Syombua who was murdered alongside her two children has pleaded to the government for protection.
Elizabeth Maua said she feels unsafe as she is not sure if all the perpetrators in the murder of her daughter and grandchildren have been apprehended.
The security concern has emerged as the family of the late Syombua waits for communication from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on the date that they will travel to Nanyuki for the identification of the three bodies.
This comes after the bodies of Syombua and her two children who had been missing since October 25 were found buried in a shallow grave in Nanyuki.
"We are living in fear because we do not know the perpetrators. We do not know who has been arrested and who is yet to be arrested so it will not be safe for us to go there. Not unless the government gives us security (Tuna uwoga sana kwa sababu hatujui ni kina nani walifanya, hatujui ni kina nani wameshikwa na kina nani hawajashikwa. So kuenda huko tunaona hatuko safe. Not unless serikali itusaidie, waweze kutupatia security)," Elizabeth Maua told Citizen TV.
Chief government pathologist Johansen Oduor is expected in Nanyuki for the postmortem exercise to establish the cause of death.Detectives from DCI have taken over the case as the investigation intensifies.
Major Peter Mugure, the husband of the late Syombua, is the prime suspect in the murder of his wife and two children.
