Dr Ruto is in a 5-day development tour to the region which overwhelmingly voted for ODM leader Raila Odinga in the past presidential polls.

On Friday, Dr Ruto toured parts of Kilifi County, which had all MCAs and MPs voted on ODM ticket. However, Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa has since cut ties with Orange party.

In a tweet, the National Assembly Minority Leader claimed that most MPs snubbed Dr Ruto and opted to campaign for the party's candidate Reuben Katana ahead of October Ganda ward by-election.

"His Excellency the deputy president with Hon Aisha Jumwa.. the rest of Kilifi County MPs gone missing.. they are campaigning in Ganda ward for the ODM candidate," he wrote.

Mr Katana had successfully petitioned election of Abdul Omar, who was elected on ODM. He has since joined Jubilee and is reportedly being funded by Dr Ruto.

Dr Ruto was seen in the company of Aisha Jumwa, his remaining loyal MP perhaps from the entire coastal region. She's facing a disciplinary case in ODM.

"The launch of Shakahola-Hawewanje bridges will empower small scale farmers & enable them build sustainable and improved standards of living through ease movement of people & transporting their agricultural produce to the market. Joining the DP H.E William Ruto at Shakahola," Jumwa wrote.

Already, Kilifi Woman Representative Getrude Mbeyu and Kilifi North MP Owen Baya have since rejoined ODM after a short stint at DP William Ruto's camp.

The two accused Ms Jumwa of dictatorship. They vowed to ensure ODM wins the by-election, which has seen Jumwa pitch tent in the region.

“I am an ODM member and have the obligation of supporting our candidate. That is the party rule, which we all must adhere to. Even when I accompanied the DP in his tour of the Coast and other areas, it was purely because he is a national leader.

“I have never rebelled against my party or my leader at any given time. I am and will remain an ODM member,” said Mr Baya who was one of the most respected leaders in the DP’s camp.
