The Thirdway Alliance party-sponsored push seeks to among others, reduce elective seats in the parliament and ensure a steady gender equality in the legislative house.

But the team of 10 parliamentarians from Kisii, Nyamira and Migori counties on Wednesday rubbished it, observing that its not the solution to Kenyans' problems.

North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko who led the group in holding fundraisers for 10 churches in Bonchariobserved that it will result in wrangles, and will affect the nation's progress.

“Hakuna mtu anaweza kutuambia kuwa Kenya itakuwa nchi bora iwapo tutapunguza majimbo na maeneo bunge kwa maana hiyo ni sawa na kuturejesha mahali tulipokuwa miaka 30 iliyopita ambapo ilikuwa vigumu kupata huduma karibu,” he was quoted by the Standard.

This translates to; No one can tell us that Kenya will be a better nation with lesser counties and constituencies. This will take us to where we were 30 years where it will be hard to acquire services."

His remarks were echoed by Kitutu Chache south MP Sylvanus Osoro who termed the bill as misleading, arguing that the nation needs a serious fight against geafr and now lesser seats.

"Ni unafiki mkubwa kusema kuwa matatizo yetu yanatokana na idadi kubwa ya majimbo, maeneo bunge ama wadi kote nchini, tunachohitaji kufanya ni kupunguza ufisadi ambao unachangia kupotea pesa za maendeleo.

(Its misleading to tell us that our problems are as a result of many counties, constituencies PR wards. What we need it to reduce corruption which eats our development monies)," he said.

Similar remarks came from Kuria West MP Mathias Robi and Bomachoge Chache MP Alpha Miruka.
