The 28-year-old midfielder did not move to Belgium on Monday, the transfer deadline day, after Spurs and Brugge failed to agree on financial issues.

Wanyama has two years to run on his contract and he might be forced to spend another year at the London club. However, he can leave Tottenham during the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur FC manager Mauricio Pochettino had made public his dissatisfaction with Wanyama's performance. He urged the Kenyan captain to work hard after injuries and regain the previous form that saw him cement his position at the heart of Tottenham FC midfield.

“It's all about performance. Football is for today and tomorrow, not yesterday. You need always to show that you are there and deserve [to be there]. In the case of Victor, he suffered an injury and another player stepped up and took his place. We are in a team, we are not a charity," Pochettino said as reported by Goal.

The Kenyan is likely to feature sparingly as he awaits a move to Ligue 1 side Monaco, Italy's Bologna, Spanish side Valencia, former club Celtic or Club Brugge in the coming transfer windows.

These clubs have expressed interest in acquiring his services.
