Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has urged Kibra parliamentary hopefuls to 'stop erecting imaginary obstacles' ahead of the November 7 by--election.
Addressing the media after the IEBC disputes tribunal cleared football star McDonald Mariga for the race, Khalwale said the latter has been cleared to run, and should be allowed to do so.
"I want to request the competitors of McDonald Mariga to stop erecting imaginary obstacles in the way. To settle the matter let the people of Kibra vote," Khalwale said.
The IEBC tribunal has today ruled that Mariga is a registered voter and, therefore, eligible to throw his hat in the Kibra contest.
This comes amid questions about the veteran footballer's eligibility to run.
Unless a successful challenge is presented in court, Mariga will feature in the November by-election.
Speaking after being cleared, he said he is ready to hit the campaign trail, adding that he has forgiven those who talked ill about him.
His disqualification by Kibra Returning Officer Beatrice Muli was based on the absence of his name from the voters' register.
