Harambee Stars' skipper Victor Wanyama on Tuesday welcomed Taifa Stars' skipper to the English Premier League. This was after the Tanzanian signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with Aston Villa. He becomes the first Tanzanian to join the premier league.
Taking it to Twitter, Wanyama congratulated Samatta for joining Aston Villa.
"Congratulations brother and welcome to the @premierleague wish you all the best as you start your new adventure,' he tweeted.
Samatta said it was always his dream to play in the highly competitive league before he promised to give all his best for Aston Villa who are fighting to avoid relegation.
Aston Villa is currently at position 16 after recording a 2-1 win against Watford on Tuesday night. It has gathered a total of 25 points from 24 matches and it is just but 2 points above the relegation zone.
"It was all a dream, thank you @avfcofficial to make it come true. Now it's time to give my 100% for the team," Samatta said.
Several Tanzanians have taken to social media to congratulate Samatta for the historic move.
Some including singer Diamond Platnumz have vowed to dump their clubs and join Aston Villa so that they can support one of their own.
Samatta said it will be a pleasure for Tanzanians who like Premier League to watch their own countryman take part in it, and will make them proud.
'For me, it means a lot, in Tanzania, people who love football they always watch the Premier League. It will be a moment they are going to watch one of their own playing in the Premier League for Aston Villa," said Samatta
