Rashid had moved to the Voi law courts accusing Sonko of brutally kicking his thighs during his dramatic arrest at Ikanga airstrip after allegedly trying to evade arrest.

The officer who said that he knew no peace since the occurrence of the incident asserted that it was his own decision to file for the withdrawal of the case and he was not compelled by anybody.

He said that he decided to forgive and forget after a thorough soul searching.

"I was not compromised by Sonko, I don’t know him and I have never met him. I am a Muslim, and I don’t habour grudges. He assaulted me, but I have decided to move on. Even the Bible asks Christians to forgive those who wrong them,” he said as quoted by People's Daily

He further insisted that nobody had compromised him to drop the case.

Rashid justified that human is to error, and he and Sonko was not exceptional. He said that he has no interest in pursuing the matter any longer.

The officers were pursuing Sonko after Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Hajji gave aa warrant of arrest against Sonko alleging that he had squandered the county money amounting to over Sh357 million.
