Already, the first forum for the Nyanza region has been held and the second one set for Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega is set for January 18, as pro-BBI politicians push for law amendments.

Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka now wants the DP, who on Sunday questioned the forums, to consider attending them.

Speaking on Tuesday night, he said that given that the DP agreed that the BBI report proposals should be popularised with the public during the launch at Bomas of Kenya, he should take part in the popularisation and not fighting the forums.

"What I would propose is that the DP can come to those rallies and be with us, he can come to the meetings because when you left from Bomas what did you say? What did the president say? "Take these things to the people," he said on NTV's Sidebar show.

He called on the DP and other Kenyans opposed to the BBI to acknowledge that the country badly needs the changes expected to be brought by the push.

According to the MP, Kenyans need a system where jobs will be offered on the basis of qualification and not tribes and where all Kenyans will be included in the country's leadership.

"We must be sensitive as Kenyans to realise that some of our communities have been saying we need a country that is open, inclusive, where we forgive each and other and where when we are employed we don't look at where you come from," he added.
