Dr Joyce Laboso passed on the 29th of July 2019 at the Nairobi hospital where she was fighting for her life.

The chief Justice said that the news shocked him because there was nothing to show that Laboso was leaving any time sooner.

He further said that he had visited her in London in June and her healthy was encouraging.

The CJ concluded by saying that Laboso was an outstanding leader and Kenyans have lost a passionate and dedicated leader with great plans for her people.

"Dr Laboso was an outstanding leader who defied great odds to become one of only three women to be elected to the position of Governor in Kenya. The people of Bomet, and indeed all Kenyans, have lost a passionate and dedicated leader who had great plans for her people," said Chief justice, David Maraga.

Laboso had come back to Kenya from India on 14th of July 2019 where she had gone for further treatment. She was taken to Nairobi hospital where she was taken to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).  She died some hours after she was taken the ICU. She died at the age of 58 years.

May DR. Laboso Rest In Peace.
